The study of the great people of history has largely been abandoned in secular education. These stories reflect faith and a strong belief in absolute morality, and are therefore thought to be too controversial or overtly religious for secular use. Trinity Lutheran School teachers use biographies of people such as Washington, Lincoln, Ten Boom, and Bonheoffer so that students see that only a life of faith can be truly great.
