Town Hall Meeting - November 17, 2024
As you review this information and the options before us, please take time to pray and consider the following questions:
• What needs are we trying to address through these changes?
• How will these facilities help further ministry and mission?
• How can we best position trinity for ministry in the next 100 years?
• Lord, what would you have us do?

Background Summary and Timeline of Long-Range Planning Process
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand. (Prov.19:21)
On Sunday, November 17, we had a town hall meeting to discuss facility expansion options. The goals for this meeting were to share information, listen to input, and continue to walk together in faith as we seek the Lord’s direction and guidance. We did not make any facility decisions at this meeting. Rather, we are taking time to consider the ministry and mission that God has called us to, wrestle with these options, and listen to one another and to our Lord. The options presented are exciting and will provide significant improvements, but they can also feel overwhelming, especially for those who haven’t been a part of the discussions leading up to this meeting. Because of this, we want to provide a bit of a timeline of how we have gotten to this point in the journey.

- 2014-2016: Trinity identified needs for additional space at the school and additional parking at the church. The “Phase 1 Expansion” was initiated, creating an 8,000 square foot addition at the school, significantly expanding our parking at the church, and transitioning the building at 511 Grand (TYM Square) from a rental property into ministry use. Initial plans were created for “Phase 2 Expansion,” which included a new church office complex, fellowship hall, and kitchen.
- 2017-2022: Paid off Phase 1 and watched God do “more than we could ask or imagine” (Eph. 3:20) as enrollment at Trinity School increased from 210 to 315 during this time, filling every corner of the new school space that was built.
- Nov. 2022: Trinity Voters asked that we initiate a long-range planning process, including revisiting and updating the “Phase 2” plans to address facility needs.
- 2023: A long-range planning committee was formed and reviewed Trinity’s core values, goals, and needs. This led to exploring a new mission statement that better aligns with who we are and what God is calling us to in the next season of ministry. Facility needs were also explored.
- May 2024: A potential new mission statement, core values, and three high-level facility options were shared with Trinity’s Voters and feedback was solicited. There was general consensus for the proposed mission statement and core values, which we plan to adopt at the next Voters’ Meeting. The three facility options presented were: 1) to modify the existing church at 537 Grand with a major addition, 2) to build a church at the school campus, or 3) to acquire new property at an undetermined location with the long-term plan to move both the church and school campuses to that location. The first two options received the most initial support.
- June-October 2024: Site plans were further developed for two facility options: to modify the existing church at 537 Grand Avenue, or to build a church at the school campus.
